Transforming the work of Vincent Van Gogh
18th Feb 2026
After looking at the story and movie of ‘Home Alone’ the children in P2 chatted about how Kevin often hid under his parents bed if he was scared or lonely and so this must be a place where he felt safe. We then linked this idea to the work of the artist Vincent Van Gogh and “The Bedroom.” We learned how he created this painting after moving to his yellow house in Arles in France and thought that he too felt safe and happy here. The children then set to transform this famous work by changing the media to oil pastels and the colours of certain parts of his creation. They added features of their own which might help them to create a place of peace, contentment and security. P2 certainly are budding artists and were so keen to share their views about their work!
