Traditional Tales and Fairytales in P2

23rd Sep 2025

Stories are the focus this first half term in P2 and what a busy September we have had! We have taken part in hot-seating the characters from the “Billy Goats Gruff,” learned the names of the seven dwarves from Snow White, began to make picture books of our very own and illustrated our own version of “The Elves and the Trendy Shoes.” This week in the construction area, we had to work together to create crystal glass coffins for Snow White, choosing the most appropriate resources and materials. Some children even tried to re-tell the story of “The Elves and the Trendy shoes” in their own words using props in the tuff tray. We also reduced the size of our paintbrush to illustrate “The Ugly Duckling” using the paint option on Just2Easy. Outside some of the children built their very own fairytale castles, with “cosy sofas and a plug to charge their phones!” Very soon we will investigate some more well known stories and decide if a wolf could really blow down a straw house and whether or not Cinderella actually wore glass slippers to the ball! Have a look at our busy classroom…
