Shawna Edwards Visits St Colman's Primary School
We were delighted and truly honoured to welcome Shawna Edwards to St Colman’s Primary School, Annaclone, on Wednesday 15th April. It was a very special day for our entire school community and a memory we will treasure for years to come. We have been using Shawna’s music for many years and her songs have become an important part of school life at St Colman’s, particularly at our Masses, assemblies and sacramental celebrations. Her music helps us to pray, reflect and come together as a school community.
Our children were very excited to perform for Shawna and her husband, John. Pupils from P6/7 sang To Be His Child, a beautiful and moving reminder that we are all loved children of God and that we are never alone. Former pupils Rosie and Nicole performed More Than Enough and Just Pray, while Annie gave a wonderful rendition of The Gift. Pupils from P3–P7 then joined together in song to perform Tree of Life and Grateful Anyway.
We were also proud to introduce Shawna to our Irish culture through music and dance. Our P5 pupils sang Song for Ireland, Annie beautifully performed Killeagh, and our talented traditional group (Mrs McMaho, Mrs Quinn & Miss Ward) entertained us with accordion, flute and guitar. We also had an amazing performance from our very talented Irish Dancers (Eimear, Rose, Holly, Katie-Rose, Roise and Emily).
Following the concert, Shawna taught the children a new song and later in the afternoon she led P6/7 pupils in an engaging and inspiring song‑writing workshop. The day was a celebration of faith, music and culture, we are are truly humbled and deeply grateful to Shawna for sharing her time and talents with us.
It is a day our school community will remember with great pride.
