P4 go to Palace Stables for WW2
Such a great day we had last week at the Palace Stables in Armagh. Pupils were taken back to 1940a to experience a variety of aspects of life then.
We began in a 1940s classroom where we made our labels and identity tags. We had to be careful throughout the day for spot checks by different individuals looking for our identity books or they might have thought we were spies.
The funniest was most definitely the character in the kitchen, one of the wardens - the giggles could be heard for miles especially when Mrs Farrelly got shouted at.
We seen what an air raid shelter was like and we met an American soldier who told us all about his role. Lily and Sarah were enrolled the army by the end!
A really enjoyable day which further embedded our work in World Around Us from Term 2.
