Measures in Primary 1!
This week we have been exploring how to measure the length and height of different objects and compare them. We began by sorting a variety of items into two groups: short and long. We also used the children’s own heights to help us understand the difference between tall and short.
During group activities, the children used dough to roll short worms and long worms. They then created five worms of different lengths and worked together to order them from the longest to the shortest.
The children also became “height detectives,” searching around the school to find objects that were taller or shorter than a selection of bears. As part of our topic on Bears, we discovered just how tall a polar bear can be when it stands on its hind legs – it was quite a challenge to find something taller!
