Guided Reading is our focus in P2
24th Oct 2025
This year we are working very hard on our guided reading lessons and reading groups. We set a Literacy activity for some of our pupils in the classroom while our small groups help to find a cosy space in school to read with an adult. This is then swapped over the next day. Our children really enjoy an activity from our box after their guided text and have been busy taking “picture walks” through their new books to help make a prediction or good guess about what they think the story will be about. The skill of ‘summarising’ in one sentence is another skill we are using and we are getting better at not recalling every part of the text read. Remembering to use “eagle eyes” π¦
to look at the picture to help us with new words is really useful, together with “stretchy snake” π who helps us to remember to sound out unfamiliar words and blend them together to read. Keep up the great work P2!
