Goldilocks and the Three Bears in Primary 1!
This week we had an unexpected visitor in our classroom—a young girl with golden hair who has a habit of eating other people’s food. Can you guess who it was? Yes… Goldilocks! She even managed to sneak in and eat Mrs. Gribben’s lunch.
The children have been exploring the story throughout the week. They took on the roles of different characters, discussed Goldilocks’ behaviour, and talked about the dangers of entering someone’s home without permission.
Using the sounds we have learned so far, the children searched around the Three Bears’ cottage for objects beginning with these initial sounds. They also applied their phonics knowledge to decode CVC words for items found in the bears’ home, such as pan, mop, mat and tap.
In small groups, we created a shopping list for Mummy Bear to replace the ingredients needed to make more porridge. Mrs. Gribben then used the list on a trip to Tesco to gather everything we needed to make our own porridge in class. For snack, the children enjoyed a warm bowl of porridge with a selection of fruit toppings—and, of course, a little sugar or honey to make it “just right.”
A special mention to our P.7 buddies who supported serving the porridge and who took all the photos.
It has been a busy but very enjoyable week in Primary 1. 🐻
