Exploring percentages

17th Feb 2026
Before midterm, our pupils have been putting their knowledge of fractions, decimals, and percentages into action by solving real‑life problems. They explored everyday scenarios such as calculating discounts on clothing, working out bargains in the shops, and deciding how much to tip a waiter or waitress. These practical tasks helped them understand how mathematical skills are used beyond the classroom and gave them the confidence to apply their learning to situations they may encounter in daily life.

The children worked in pairs and small groups, enthusiastically discussing their ideas and comparing their strategies. They enjoyed the teamwork involved and supported one another to tackle each challenge. It was wonderful to see how engaged they were, and how proud they felt when they realised just how useful their maths skills can be!

And obviously the ARMAGH jersey was the most expensive!
