P7 Workshop on dealing with pressure

12th Sep 2019

This workshop focuses on P7 pupils. With pressures such as transfer test, peer interaction, music tests, plays and sports events, all pupils are sure to benefit. #HelpingImprovePerformance #HIPprimary

Cormac Venney (https://www.hiperformanceconsultancy.com/) will be working with ALL our P7 children again this year on Monday 14th October. The session will last from 1300 -1430. Primary 7 found it to be inspirational last year and changed a lot of set or fixed mindsets for the better. A little video and taster of the workshop is shown below.

Pupils will explore how to control the build up to an important event through devising a robust individualised routine. Controlling thought processes under pressure is investigated. Pupils will be taught the technique of diaphragmatic breathing and how this helps in high emotional states. Our children will understand how to enhance confidence through self-talk. The students will be taught four different types of self-talk and how they can either facilitate or sabotage performance.

Pupils will understand how to enhance confidence through self-talk. The students will be taught four different types of self-talk and how they can either facilitate or sabotage performance. Pupils will uncover different stressors in their lives, the detrimental impact that ‘holding on’ has and will discuss various techniques to allow them to ‘let go’ of stresses when they encounter them.

Set backs both in the moment of a performance and in wider life are investigated, with pupils realising that disappointments are an inevitable part of life. Students will develop the skill set to rationally reflect when they make mistakes, this is done via the ‘Win or learn’ mindset. Pupils will come to realise that challenging themselves and getting out of their comfort zone is how they will truly fulfil their potential.

The importance of preparing properly and how this is a key to successful and confident performance is highlighted. Pupils will explore how to achieve daily excellence through proper preparation. Students will investigate how they can be productive in terms of getting homework done and how their study environment contributes significantly to this.

And finally, pupils will explore their strengths as people and come to understand the qualities they possess always remain part of who they are. The students will comprehend the significance of focusing on themselves as opposed to comparing themselves to others.
