McGreevy / Farrell Primary Inter-Schools Tournament 2019

21st Sep 2019

Yesterday  we hosted the 44th edition of The Farrell Trophy & marked the 25th year of the McGreevy Primary School GAA Blitz, and what a day it turned out to be ☀️ 🏆⚽️ As a school we were able to enter three sides into the competition and therefore gave competitive footballing opportunities to 30 of our children from P5-7, with the additional promise of more to come for those who weren’t involved this time around.

We welcomed boys and girls from St. Paul’s Primary School (Cabra), St. Mary’s Primary School (Rathfriland), St. Ronan’s Primary School (Newry), St. Patrick’s Primary School (Drumgreenagh), St. Mary’s Primary School (Dechomet) and St. Michael’s Primary School (Finnis).

There was some great football played by all schools but there could only be one  winner. St. Michael’s P.S. triumphed narrowly over St. Colman’s P.S. (Gaels) in the final 1-4 v 1-2. Very proud of all our teams, the Ogs, Harps & the Gaels.

Thank you very much to both Joe Farrell & Kay McGreevy for their continued support and liaison of the competitions with the school. To Annaclone GAC once again for the use of their facilities. To Miss Finnegan, Mr Burns & Mr McKay who helped with fixtures/coaching and to all the parents/supporters who assisted with transport and refreshments on the day. Your joint efforts made the whole thing possible.
