Maths learning that stays with you!

Within our school we subscribe to Mathletics. This is an on-line maths website which challenges children to apply the skills they have been learning. Your child's class teacher will give your child their individual log in details so that they can access the website from home too.

Sometimes the teacher might set specific tasks aimed at your child's ability or your child can simply play mathematical games to support their learning. The option of playing against other children in other schools around the world is also available if you wish your child to do so. If this is the case, it  is essential that you reinforce the keeping safe on line guidelines that are taught throughout school.

Mathletics is a practice environment that rewards hard work—after all, with dynamic, unlimited questions, guessing your way to success isn't exactly an option. Instead, we encourage students to learn from their mistakes, and move through new challenges at their own pace. There's no feeling that can match mastering a skill on Mathletics, since it comes with the satisfaction of knowing you really do “get it”.

As teachers we approach each maths concept from all angles, offering visual representations, word problems, interactive activities and more. As Maths coordinator I advocate Mathletics for our children because it offers an abundance of maths problems for every learning style, students can't help but build lasting skills and confidence.

Throughout the school year we celebrate pupil success and achievement during assembly. We look for those children that have a) mastered the most skills in each class during the previous month and b) those children that have made the biggest month on month improvement. We also reward the class in the school that has answered the most questions correctly during the month.

Winners recieve a prized homework voucher and a prize of their choosing.

You know what you have to do if you want to be next!

Mathletics is a great maths website to help children practice their maths skills.   There are  an unlimited number of practice questions in thousands of skills. One of the best things about Mathletics is that your child can access it from home, so you have a chance to see your child's progress!

In addition to making maths practice exciting, Mathletics is designed to help your child learn at his or her own pace. The website is adaptive and will adjust to your child's demonstrated ability level.

Remember as a parent or guardian you can register to receive weekly email reports. To do this you will need your child’s user name and password.
